Bechtle awarded tender from the German Federal Ministry of the Interior.

Multimillion euro IT and services contract with a maximum duration of four years.

Neckarsulm/Bonn, 09 August 2012 – The Beschaffungsamt des Bundesministeriums des Innern (Procurement Department of the German Federal Ministry of the Interior) has awarded Bechtle AG the general contract for the maintenance and expansion of the current EMC storage infrastructure. Now, authorised organisations can access storage services according to the agreed upon conditions of the framework agreement “EMC-Storage-Produkte”. The contract, signed 12 June 2012, has a maximum duration of 4 years.

The contract entails the delivery of hardware and software products, as well as consultation services, installation and support. As the main contractor, Bechtle AG will fulfil the contract in cooperation with its long-standing manufacturer partner EMC Deutschland GmbH and distributors TIM AG and Orchestra Service GmbH.

The Bechtle company headquarters in Neckarsulm, Germany, will oversee the central project management. Regional Bechtle IT system houses with extensive experience in federal tender projects will be responsible for the operative business. “With the combination of local system houses and a central management, we are able to react quickly and flexibly to the requirements of our nation-wide customers,” explained Jörg Terschüren, head of federal projects subdivision, Bechtle AG.

“We’re very pleased that the Beschaffungsamt of the BMI has awarded Bechtle the contract, allowing authorised government agencies to take advantage of the highly effective and efficient EMC solutions,” explains Ingo Gehrke, Director of Sales of Mid Market and Public Sector Clients at EMC Germany. “This framework agreement in the fast-growing public sector market is a huge success for EMC. And with Bechtle at our side, we’re confident that we have an experienced and reliable partner.”

Bechtle has established itself over the years as an experienced IT partner to public sector customers and has concentrated its competence in this field into a division dedicated solely to public sector business customers. “We’ve been able to ideally fuse our superior know-how and experience in the demanding public sector market, offering our decentralised sales and service organisation a central support platform. Our model has proved successful,” emphasises Gerhard Marz, Head of the Public Sector Division, Bechtle AG.
