Bechtle to modernise its data centre and extend cloud portfolio.
Neckarsulm, 10 August 2016 – Bechtle has entered a partnership with Frankfurt-based e-shelter to enable the long-term operation of its own data centre at the largest data centre campus in Europe. In the coming months, Bechtle will transfer the majority of its internal IT systems from its headquarters in Neckarsulm to e-shelter sites in Frankfurt. The systems will continue to be owned and operated by Bechtle. This dual-site strategy guarantees optimal security, scalability and high availability. In addition, the relocation enables Bechtle to gain direct access to the DE-CIX internet exchange point, further enhancing the technical foundation to deliver comprehensive hosting and cloud services for our customers.
The Bechtle Clouds platform will concentrate all cloud activities of Germany’s largest IT system house, including private and managed cloud solutions, as well as the integration of Bechtle-managed public cloud offerings. The portfolio also encompasses outsourcing and operation services for entire customer data centres, hosted and run by Bechtle in Germany. The geographical redundancy achieved through fully independent data centres exceeding Tier 3 requirements means that Bechtle will be able to guarantee its customers virtually 100 percent availability.
e-shelter has created high availability environments at their sites, which provide excellent physical security and technical availability through redundant systems and an integrated facility management infrastructure. In addition to three locations in Frankfurt, e-shelter also has sites in Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Vienna and Zurich. Bechtle has been working with the leading European data centre provider in Zurich for many years and is already using its Swiss capacities as a Bechtle customer data centre. e-shelter’s European data centres have a total area of over 95,000 m² on purpose-built premises. This area is used according to customer requirements, enabling Bechtle to construct and operate IT landscapes specifically tailored to its customers.
