Neckarsulm, 27 October 2023 – Following 16 months of construction to the most advanced industry standards, Bechtle has now opened its newest office location in Ettlingen. Just a stone’s throw away from Bechtle’s IT system house site in Karlsruhe, where it has been since 1995, the premises will be the new home to the business unit and a highly modern workplace for just under 180 people from four different Bechtle Group companies. The building also offers plenty of room to accommodate the IT service provider’s projected growth of 350 employees working at the site. A variety of working and meeting spaces are spread across nearly 4,450 square metres, offering state-of-the-art facilities designed to support collaboration across departments and in constantly evolving project scenarios. The Bechtle IT System House Karlsruhe will share the premises with three other Bechtle Group companies in the region—Bechtle Network & Security Solutions, HanseVision, and Solidline—creating another IT future hub that will bring together a great variety of specialists under the same roof to cover as many bases as possible for even highly complex customer projects. In addition, eliminating the geographic distance between the teams enables welcome economic and organisational synergies. Bechtle has previously established IT future hubs in Dortmund, Stuttgart and Unterschleißheim. Another site following the same collaborative approach is to follow in 2026 in Neu-Ulm.
“In Ettlingen, we were able to find the perfect location that checks every one of our boxes for a modern and sustainability-oriented site. We want to offer our employees an attractive working environment that fosters wellbeing, and where they find the best conditions to guide our customers along their digital transformation journey through a great variety of projects,” says Richard Einstmann, Managing Director, Bechtle IT System House Karlsruhe. His fellow Managing Director, Andreas Plötze, adds the context of the surrounding Karlsruhe TechnologyRegion: “Our new location is an ideal springboard to achieving our ambitious growth targets as a future-first IT partner for our customers and our regional partner network.”
Sustainable energy concept and a lot of flexibility
The office is designed for maximum flexibility including desk-sharing capabilities for an agile workforce, and smart facilities such as automated lighting, heating and cooling, as well as window blinds, all contributing to optimised energy efficiency. Bechtle also sets great store in renewable energy, using a combination of solar and geothermal sources. The roof of the new building is fitted with a 200 kWp photovoltaic system, while the nearby river Alb feeds an injection/vacuum well system for geothermal heating and cooling. The site also embraces Bechtle’s group-wide Charge@Work concept, offering employees 32 charging points for electric cars, and a further 22 charging points for electric bicycles.
