Bechtle CO₂-Conscious IT: Turn your hardware purchase into climate action.

Together with our customers, we are committed to making IT more sustainable. With Bechtle CO₂‑Conscious IT, we offer a solution that stands out in the German IT market: based on the emissions generated during the production and delivery of your IT hardware, we support you in making a financial contribution to certified climate protection projects. You receive confirmation of your financial contribution to the selected project, while Bechtle handles the administration, keeping the additional effort for you to a minimum. This allows you to procure hardware while supporting climate projects in line with the Gold Standard.

Introducing Bechtle CO₂-Conscious IT.

Once your IT hardware order has been received, we calculate the associated CO₂ emissions and provide you with a detailed report, after which we present climate protection projects that reduce emissions outside your value chain. Our partner in this is goodcarbon, a Berlin-based company that implements sustainable projects and ensures they meet high standards in terms of climate impact, biodiversity and social co-benefits for local communities.

This creates a tangible contribution to achieving climate targets. Bechtle CO₂‑Conscious IT enables your organisation to demonstrate specific Beyond Value Chain Mitigation (BVCM) measures that meet the requirements of the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). These are climate projects outside your organisation’s value chain that complement your direct emission reduction efforts.

PAZcifico Sur: Preventing deforestation, creating opportunities.

This project protects a large forest and mangrove area in a key biodiversity hotspot in Colombia. To prevent deforestation, a large share of the revenue is directed to local Afro-Colombian communities, where it supports alternative sources of income, such as sustainable farming on existing land, so they can generate income without clearing additional forest areas. The project combines climate protection with positive social and environmental impact.

Boomitra project: Healthy grasslands store carbon.

The Boomitra project focuses on restoring degraded grasslands in Mexico by dividing grazing areas into smaller sections that are used in rotation, giving them time to recover. Water retention structures such as keylines, gabions and small ponds help keep moisture in the soil, which supports faster vegetation recovery. The project’s ecological impact is continuously monitored using satellite and soil data combined with AI‑based analysis, while local ranchers benefit from additional income through carbon credits.

Klim project: Regenerative agriculture in Germany.

The Klim project supports German farmers as they transition to regenerative farming practices, including reduced tillage, introducing diverse crop rotations, and the use of cover crops to reduce soil erosion, retain water in the soil and store CO₂. The methodology is certified by TÜV Rheinland, and the measures are reviewed annually. Over time, the project improves soil quality, supports biodiversity and has a positive impact on the climate.
