To support its global business, Koch-Chemie needed to establish high-performance business IT and ensure that all its staff and business processes were connected from beginning to end. To do so, the company consistently relies on Microsoft Office and Microsoft Dynamics, as Microsoft’s cloud-first strategy embodies exactly the vision that Koch-Chemie needs.
Solution.
Koch-Chemie decided to continue pursuing its Microsoft strategy. After implementing Microsoft Navision ten years ago with the help of MODUS Consult—a Bechtle Group company—it upgraded to Dynamics NAV 2016 two years ago to provide maximum support for its supply chain and production process. The next step was to move all of Koch-Chemie’s administrative tasks to Office 365, ensuring an always-up-to-date environment, excellent security standards and maximum mobility for all Office applications. In addition, this move integrates Microsoft SharePoint via MODUS ArchiveLink.
As a result, Koch-Chemie is able to use SharePoint for document management and to establish portals for the further digitalisation of its internal processes. It was a good idea to begin considering Microsoft Dynamics 365 CE early on. Such a hybrid strategy would allow Koch-Chemie to take advantage of many of the benefits of a cloud environment. The company’s core supply chain processes, however, would continue to be handled by its local solution, which can be upgraded later on. Instead of overhauling all of its systems at once, this gives Koch-Chemie the ability to progressively migrate to the cloud in line with its available in-house resources.
For the company’s IT management, the benefits of cloud-supported systems are obvious: lower investment costs and the ability to respond to actual requirements. Administrating the environment also requires fewer employees, enabling more people to devote their time to value-generating processes. As a result, Koch-Chemie’s IT department is no longer just a cost centre, but rather an increasingly important factor of the company’s success. The security provided by Microsoft Azure was a key consideration. Although no one is able to guarantee absolute security, Microsoft sets the bar high and enables Koch-Chemie employees to focus more on phishing and similar attacks.

The platform’s excellent security standards protect Koch-Chemie from hacker attacks and keep data safely available. What’s more, employees are able to use all Office applications with maximum mobility.
