When it Absolutely Must Connect –

The latest connectivity solutions from Silex Technology.

As part of its “When it Absolutely Must Connect” approach, connectivity specialist Silex Technology, enables network integration of a wide variety of devices, transforming them into secure and reliable network devices that are always connected and available. Today, the Silex Group is not only the global market leader for integrated network printing technology, but has also made a name for itself as a leading provider of USB, serial and WLAN connectivity.

The company’s product portfolio includes device servers, wireless infrastructure products, WLAN module solutions and AV transfer technologies. Alongside sophisticated technologies and quality products, the company offers comprehensive services, for example, free lifelong e-mail support and the customisation of one standard hardware and/or software products depending on suitable project sizes.

The new USB 3.0 Device Server from Silex – It’s never been easier to connect USB devices in virtual environments.

A growing number of businesses are choosing to run virtual server infrastructures with Citrix, VMware or other virtualisation software. A virtual desktop infrastructure like this doesn’t only mean more security, but also lowers costs. However one of the challenges for these environments, in which thin clients tend to be integrated, is connecting users with USB devices. The new USB 3.0 DS-700 and DS-700AC Device Servers solve this problem by enabling USB devices to be flexibly placed in a virtual environment. USB Virtual Link Technology allows every Windows client to be connected to any USB device.

Both USB Device Servers come with two powerful USB 2.0/3.0 ports, meaning that nearly all kinds of USB devices—from printers, scanners and cameras to dongles and storage media, measuring devices, medical technology and industrial applications—can be used wirelessly or wired via a network with IPv4 and IPv6 support as if the device were connected locally to a PC.

The DS-700 and DS-700AC – Isochronous data transfer and high security.

What’s special about the DS-700 and DS-700AC USB Device Servers is that they support isochronous transfer mode, i.e. devices such as industrial USB cameras (full and hi-speed) and speakers requiring continuous real-time data transfer can now easily be used in a network environment.

Both the DS-700 and DS-700AC support enterprise security so that even highly confidential data can be processed in a secure wireless environment, and the DS-700AC also offers the highest possible security in terms of Wi-Fi integration by supporting 802.1x and WPA3 encryption. Both systems also offer the option of USB password protection and a USB device type filter according to the end device’s vendor or product ID.

Simple set up and administration via remote management.

The free SX Virtual Link connection software makes it easy for users to manage access to the connected USB devices. What’s more, the AMC Manager® software for enterprise remote management and mass configuration of Silex network products allows network administrators to manage multiple Silex Device Servers.

The new BR-500AC Wi-Fi Bridge – Integrating Ethernet devices into a WLAN network just reached a whole new level.

The new BR-500AC wireless bridge mean that all devices with an Ethernet interface—including printers and MFPs, network document scanners, medical technology devices, all types of machines or industrial machinery, time recording and access control systems—can now be securely and stably integrated into WLAN networks and operated with ease. Thanks to significantly optimised performance, security features including 802.1x enterprise security with WPS 3.0 encryption and 802.11r/ai (fast roaming), the bridge can not only be used in more application scenarios than its predecessor, but reaches a whole new level.

Connecting the BR-500AC to wired commercial devices turns them into WLAN client devices. In this way, even the most complex Ethernet devices can be integrated into the Wi-Fi network making them more flexible to install and more mobile.

Easily retrofit existing Ethernet products.

The past few pandemic months especially have seen a significant increase in the demand for remote IT solutions that enable communication between people and things in different locations via a network. In the BR-500AC, Silex Technology is facilitating companies retrofitting their existing Ethernet devices during use so that they can be securely and stably integrated into the WI-Fi network and easily operated without impacting ongoing business processes.

Fast-roaming for mobile devices.

With fast roaming, the BR-500AC is equipped with a roaming feature and tuning menu that includes QoS functionality to ensure smooth and stable communication subject to the customer’s user environment. In this way, the BR-500AC guarantees seamless fast roaming and is ideal for mobile Ethernet devices such as medical carts and mobile workstations.

Mass configuration and remote control with AMC Manager.

It’s easy to install multiple BR-500ACs using the BR Kitting Utility—an AMC Manager® plug-in application. AMC Manager® enables IT administrators to centrally and remotely monitor, maintain and make necessary adjustments to the BR-500AC devices.
