Neckarsulm/Langenau, 3 December 2012 – The Bechtle affiliate Solidpro GmbH has bought the sales division for the CAD software SolidWorks from Unicam Software GmbH. Solidpro acquired 13 employees at the Bavarian location of Georgensgmünd as well as existing customer contracts through the asset deal. Following the earlier acquisitions of Solidpro GmbH and SolidLine AG in August 2010 and April 2011 respectively, and the comparable asset deal closed with the northern German company SPI GmbH in August 2012, this step further solidifies Bechtle’s position in the CAD market.
Bernd Krebs, owner and founder of Unicam in 1992, states, “We know that our employees will be in good hands with the Bechtle Group and our colleagues at Solidpro. I am convinced not only that this deal will allow them to develop their full potential, but that their expertise will strengthen Solidpro and SolidLine’s market position.”
Unicam, a certified SolidWorks partner, has over 30 employees and is among the leading Mastercam providers in Germany.
Werner Meiser, Managing Director at Solidpro, says, “These new, excellently trained employees will help heighten our performance and expand our presence in Bavaria, allowing us, as member’s of the Bechtle Group, to solidify our number 1 position in the German-speaking market.
Customers Benefit from Synergy
At Bechtle, the CAD portfolio is managed by the company’s its own software division. The advantage of this is that Bechtle can combine its expertise and experience in the software and licensing business with its corporate sales network. Norbert Franchi, head of the division, underlines, “Our customers will not only receive first-rate service for all their CAD needs, they will also benefit from the positive effect of this acquisition on comprehensive IT solutions. We in the Bechtle Group cover every aspect of product lifecycle management, offering our customers an all-in-one software solutions package.” Bechtle and Unicam look forward to continue working together after 1 December 2012, the asset deal’s effective date. “We plan to sign a cooperation agreement with Unicam for the area of CAM software,” says Norbert Franchi.
