Neckarsulm/Frankfurt, 04 June 2014 – Deutsche Bahn AG has awarded Bechtle AG the contract for supplying mobile end devices, accessories and related services. It includes standard mobile phones, smartphones and tablets, as well as special devices and accessories such as water and dust-resistant smartphones, and ultra-rugged tablets and phones for the physically disabled. Services include pre-configuration and installation, SIM card management and device re-placement. Contract beneficiaries are employees of the Deutsche Bahn and its subsidiaries throughout Germany, Europe and beyond. Valued at tens of millions of euros, the contract has an initial duration of three years with the option to extend for three consecutive one-year periods.
The contracting party is Deutsche Bahn’s Frankfurt-based subsidiary, DB Systel GmbH, a leading provider of ICT solutions in Germany and responsible for all ICT services of the holding company. It hopes the contract will provide a solid foundation for the company’s mobile technology needs as it moves forward in its transport and logistics business. “We’re very happy to have been selected for this contract. The contract will be executed by Bechtle’s logistics subsidiary in Neckarsulm, various Bechtle direct e-commerce subsidiaries throughout Europe and the IT System House Frankfurt. Bechtle is able to achieve considerable synergies through the combination of its centralised services, international presence and customer proximity.
