Neckarsulm/Munich, 14 July 2026 – Bechtle has been awarded a contract by the Bavarian State Ministry of Justice to operate and modernise key IT services for the Bavarian judiciary. The framework agreement centres on bajTECH, the judiciary’s central IT platform, which underpins digital workplaces and essential IT services across the organisation. In addition, Bechtle will deliver managed services, project and consulting services, and the hardware required to support the IT environment. The agreement takes effect on 1 January 2027 and initially runs for six years, with a maximum contract value of up to €250 million. As part of the agreement, Bechtle will support two data centres and 220 locations throughout Bavaria, serving more than 17,500 IT workplaces. Through this long-term partnership, Bechtle will help the courts and public prosecutor’s offices of the Free State of Bavaria continue their digital transformation, providing employees with a secure, modern and high-performing IT environment.
With the award, Bechtle will assume responsibility for key IT services supporting the Bavarian judiciary. The scope of the contract includes management of the domain environment, infrastructure and client systems, as well as service desk and support operations, unified communications, and the technology used in meeting rooms and courtrooms. Optional elements of the agreement include additional project resources, the migration of central services to a state-operated data centre, and the expansion of specialised communications infrastructure.
The project will be led by Bechtle’s Munich/Regensburg IT System House with several specialised companies within the Bechtle Group and partner organisations contributing their expertise. This includes Bechtle Managed Services, which will provide key operational services, and Berlin-based Arktis IT solutions GmbH, which will support the operation of courtroom technology.
Long-term partnership
“The demands placed on justice-sector IT are evolving rapidly, whether in terms of technology, processes or regulation. That’s why this agreement is about more than running IT services. It’s about building a long-term partnership. Together with the Bavarian judiciary, we want to create an environment that combines security, scalability and room for continuous innovation”, says Anne Langens, Member of the Management Board at Bechtle IT System House Munich/Regensburg.
The project is currently in the transition phase. Over the course of 2026, Bechtle will take over systems and processes from the current service provider, establish the operational framework and create the technical and organisational foundations for a smooth start to regular operations. Particular emphasis is being placed on meeting stringent security and compliance requirements. Information security will be governed by ISO 27001 standards based on the BSI IT-Grundschutz framework.
“A robust digital infrastructure is now a fundamental requirement for a modern justice system. We look forward to supporting the Bavarian judiciary over the long term as it continues its digital transformation. Through our managed services, we will help ensure a secure, stable and future-ready IT environment”, says Roland König, Managing Director of Bechtle IT System House Munich/Regensburg.
