Finding the right business phone.

In today’s business world, it’s critical to choose the right phone. Business phones need to be able to fulfil a range of requirements which varies depending on where they are going to be used. Here are some key factors to consider before making an investment.

1. Always-on display. An always-on display is imperative for business users who need to stay up to date as it allows them to have important notes and information about their company to hand without having to unlock their phone.

2. Manageability. Think about how you as a company can manage your end devices through, for example, remote management and locking. We can help you create a comprehensive digital infrastructure that covers all the bases.

3. Processing power. To ensure fast working and fluid multi-tasking, you need a powerful processor. One with an octa-core or higher is more than enough for most sectors.

4. Working with gloves. Work in a job where you need to wear gloves most of the time? You need a device that can be operated without having to constantly take them off. We at Bechtle have an extensive range of models that are suitable for use with work gloves.

5. Battery life: When purchasing a smartphone, you need to make sure the battery won’t let you down. Generally speaking, batteries should support at least 13-15 hours of active use, but this may vary based on manufacturer and model. There are some high-end phones on the market that boast even longer battery lives. Consider your day-to-day business needs and select a phone with a battery that won’t leave you in the lurch and look into fast charging capabilities, too.

6. Memory. When deciding which phone is best for you, you need to look at how much storage space they come with. Business phones tend to have at least 64 GB, but usually come with 128 GB internal memory, giving you plenty of space for apps, documents and some photos. If, however, you need to save a lot of files and apps, you’d be better choosing a model with 128 GB or more. Some enterprise devices come with a microSD slot so you can expand your storage space, which can be particularly useful when you have to save large files such as presentations or multimedia content.
7. Display size. 6" to 6.5" is considered a standard screen size, but 6.5" to 7" is recommended for those who spend a lot of time using their devices. Smaller 4.7" to 6" displays are ideal if your phone is going to spend a lot of time in your pocket.

8. Waterproof housing. For all those working long hours outdoors, they need a rugged phone with awaterproof housing.
9. Camera. If you have staff taking photos and videos for social media, you need to give them phones with a good camera. You need to be looking at phones with at least a 12 MP main camera, but the number of megapixels isn’t the only factor to consider when looking for the best camera quality. Look out for for image stabilisation and additional lenses such as wide and ultra-wide angles as well.
10. 5G connectivity. Today, everyone is expected to be connected at all times. Compared to 4G, 5G technology offers considerable improvements in terms of mobile internet speed and reliability. A 5G-capable business phone allows you take part in high-res video conferences, share files in real time and access cloud-based resources while on the go.
11. Barcode scanner. In certain industries such as retail and warehousing, a built-in barcode scanner is hugely beneficial for facilitating the seamless scanning of barcodes and QR codes, saving time and increasing efficiency.
12. Oleophobic coating. Business phones with an oleophobic coating are easy to keep clean, which extends their lifecycle. These are particularly useful in gastronomy and Apple iPhones are ahead of the curve when it comes to this feature.
13. Gesture control. Gesture control is a feature that allows you to use your phone with ease, whatever the situation. It’s particularity useful when you’re on the road and are unable to manually operate your device.
