Bechtle expands Gaildorf site

  • New building to increase size of finance division’s office
  • Space for an additional 100 office seats
  • Other Group units to move in

Neckarsulm/Gaildorf, 28 November 2019 – Bechtle AG is expanding its footprint in the southern German town of Gaildorf. The new building, which will provide space for some 100 office seats, is planned to connect directly to the company’s office at Bechtle Allee 1, which Bechtle has occupied since 2009. Two additional company units will move into the office, joining the IT group’s central finance division. Construction is expected to begin in August 2020, with a move-in date projected for November 2021.

The new building in Gaildorf will add some 1,800 m2 of office space, nearly doubling current capacity and providing space for around 100 additional, cutting-edge office seats. Bechtle moved the Group's central finance division to the current location ten years ago. At the time, there were only 50 employees; today, over 100 people work in Gaildorf.

“This new building will enable us to add interesting job opportunities at the location, reflecting Bechtle’s continuous growth,” says Stefan Sagowski, Executive Vice President responsible for finances at Bechtle AG. The current Gaildorf site is home to various finance-related departments: Accounting and Group Accounting, Payroll Accounting, Treasury and Insurance, Internal Audit, Taxes and Corporate Law, as well as Bechtle’s central Address Management department.

The new office building will also house parts of the Bechtle Group’s in-house IT department as well as a further branch office of Bechtle direct Germany, the IT e-commerce subsidiary based at Group headquarters in

Neckarsulm. Bechtle direct Germany sells hardware and software to business and public-sector customers throughout the country, with existing branch locations in Erfurt and Dortmund. Its planned branch in Gaildorf is expected to accommodate up to 20 workstations.

Sustainable energy supply

Since it opened its doors in 2009, Bechtle’s existing building in Gaildorf has relied on a geothermal system to supply all of the site’s heating and cooling, eliminating the need for fossil fuels. “We want to increase our reliance on renewable energy sources, in line with our sustainability strategy. That’s why we’re making every effort to continue our successful geothermal approach as we expand the Gaildorf site. We are currently still working on getting permits from the appropriate authorities,” says Mr Sagowski. The expansion of the site, which is located some 70 km south-west of Bechtle’s Group headquarters in Neckarsulm, will also provide additional charging stations for electric and hybrid vehicles.

Bechtle’s finance division has been in Gaildorf since 1994, based first in the home of company co-founder Gerhard Schick before moving close to the railway station. The current construction project is reinforcing the company’s ties to Schwäbisch Hall, the administrative district in which Gaildorf is located, as Bechtle views the expansion as an opportunity to offer attractive jobs with a future to local residents.
