How is Bechtle involved in the AI cluster Ipai?
Bechtle signed a contract with the Innovation Park Artificial Intelligence (Ipai) in Heilbronn in December 2023 and is now a member of the European flagship project for AI. Bechtle not only contributes its own AI innovations, but by expanding its membership in February 2025, leverages the platform to further bolster its network. As a member of the Ipai community, Bechtle is supporting the project of establishing a European centre for AI applications only a stone’s throw away from its headquarters.

What benefits does Planet AI provide for document analysis?
The Rostock-based company Planet AI, in which Bechtle holds a majority stake, is a leading provider of AI-based document processing. The IDA software suite uses large language models to capture, classify, extract and analyse data, particularly from unstructured documents. Planet AI solutions are used by banks and public authorities, archives and software manufacturers, among others, who handle a very large number of documents. The company is a research partner to the University of Rostock.

The partnership covers the distribution of DeepL products to enterprise and public-sector customers across 14 European countries, alongside the widespread adoption of its language solutions within the Bechtle Group.
The objective is to drive the ongoing digital transformation of public services and the government administration as a whole through the ability to harvest, validate, analyse and interpret data from a variety of sources paired with AI capabilities.
